It is an offense to knowingly or recklessly provide information which is false for the purpose of obtaining any document under the Plant Protection Act – 2007 (53). It is also an offence to alter, forge, deface or destroy any document issued under this Act. Such offenses may result in a fine of $1,500.00, imprisonment for a term of one year, or both, and the confiscation and destruction of the commodity in accordance with the Plant Protection Act – 2007 (53).
On acceptance of the Import Permit and receipt of the items, the Importer accepts that, on inspection, if any plant pests are present on or within the consignment, the items will be treated, re-exported or confiscated and destroyed at the importer’s expense. If treatment of the items is necessary, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security accepts no responsibility for any damage which may occur to these items.
