A Veterinary Export Health Certificate issued by the Veterinary Authority of the country of Origin must accompany ALL products of animal origin being imported into Barbados.
It is virtually impossible to obtain certification for a product that has already left the country of origin.
IT IS A BREACH OF THE LAWS OF BARBADOS TO IMPORT PRODUCTS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN WITHOUT A VALID PERMIT AND PRIOR PERMISSION OF THE SENIOR VETERINARY OFFICER.
Trans-shipment
All companies transiting products of animal origin through Barbados to other territories where the products will be transferred from one vessel (airplane/ship) to another must also apply for a Trans-shipment Permit prior to the shipment leaving the port of origin.
Application forms may be obtained from the Veterinary Services Department and these forms accompanied by the application fee of BDOS $25.00 should be submitted for approval prior to the expected date of the shipment.
Please contact Veterinary Services for application forms and additional information that must be obtained regarding commercial trans-shipments.
